Green – The colour of Prosperity and Harmony

Green Day was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm in the Pre Primary Wing on 18th July, 2018. The Pre Nursery, Nursery, Prep students and teachers came to school dressed in pretty green attires and looked eco friendly. The classrooms & notice boards were beautifully decorated in green theme and all the green objects from a child’s immediate surroundings were brought to the class rooms.

Pre Nursery and Nursery students were taught the identification and recognition of green fruits, vegetables, leaves and trees. School organized so many activities and games pertaining to green colour for all the kids of Houses (Namely – Abdul Kalam House, Swami Vivekananda House, Kalpana Chawla House and C.V. Raman House). Children brought green snacks and eatables in their tiffins. The classrooms were beautifully decorated with flash cards, balloons & green objects. A few Nursery students come dressed up as live models of green objects such as raw mango, frog, grapes, capsicum and recited related rhymes.

‘Show and Tell’ Activity was conducted in school where children brought one green object from home & spoke a few lines in front of the other students and teachers on the same.An exhibition on green day was put up by class prep children in school campus wherethe students of Prep explained the different virtues of green, its importance in the National Flag, Traffic light, School logo, School Flag etc. They also explained the important medicinal plants that we get from the green world. Acts of green conveyed the message that we should not cut trees and plant more and more trees. Students were introduced to various shades of green such as acqua green, olive green, bottle green and parrot green. Quiz on green objects, games on green colour were organized throughout the day. Nursery children did moong dal pasting activity whereas Prep students did Vegetable printing. 

Green Day was a practical learning experience for the children and was very enjoyable.
